P5 & 6 make apple crumble...delicious!!🍎🍏🥧
On Wednesday, Mrs McGovern noticed that an apple tree in our school playground was bursting with beautiful, delicious ripe apples! Our P5 & 6s were so excited to see this and decided to pick some of these to bring into the classroom. We talked about what we could do with them and decided we would make some apple crumble the next day.
Alanna & Lochlan also brought in some of their cooking apples from their gardens.
Mrs Meehan decided to base our Thursday numeracy lesson around making the apple crumble.
We used our knowledge of weight to weigh and measure the ingredients on scales. We also calculated the time at which our crumble would be ready using our knowledge of time.
We also looked at readjusting the recipe to serve different amounts of people!
Lots of hands on learning!! 🙌🏻😀
