Theme 2 of Roots of Empathy
4th Dec 2025
On Monday we welcomed our teacher baby Jarlath and his mummy Claire back into school for Theme 2 family visit.
In this theme we discuss ‘Crying’ and recognise that when a baby cries they are not a bad baby. We discussed crying is the way babies communicate how they are feeling- and let us know they have a need that needs to be met.
We discussed with Claire baby Jarlath’s temperament- she told us that Jarlath cries when he is hungry. She also told us that when Jarlath is overtired he will also cry. Clare told us how she meets Jarlath’s needs when he cries- by feeding him, singing to him and rocking him.
The children were very engaged during the session and asked some very relevant questions. Well done everyone especially Baby Jarlath who smiled the whole session!!
